Lawton teenager Jamie Butemeyer’s summer will be anything but typical. The whirlwind started last Friday night, June 8, when Butemeyer was crowned Miss Oklahoma ‘s Outstanding Teen 2007, earning $2500 in cash scholarships as well as a tuition waiver to Oklahoma City University valued at $9800. An accomplished vocalist, Butemeyer wowed the Mabee Center audience with “The Life of the Party” from the Broadway musical The Wild Party . She competed at the pageant as Miss South Oklahoma City’s Teen. The daughter of Brad and Linda Butemeyer, the 16-year-old will begin her junior year at Lawton High School this fall.

All Aboard the “TRAIN” for Healthy Oklahoma Children is the issue Butemeyer plans to address as Miss Oklahoma ‘s Outstanding Teen. As a diabetic herself, she believes her TRAIN program will help children and adults with and without diabetes be proactive and keep a positive and healthy lifestyle.

Butemeyer will be busy preparing for the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, which will be August 7-11 in Orlando , Florida . The teen pageant is endorsed by and affiliated with the Miss America Organization and continues the Organization’s strong tradition by providing scholarships and performance opportunities to accomplished 13 to 17-year-olds from across the nation. From photo shoots to public speaking opportunities, from wardrobe fittings to vocal lessons, the summer will be anything but boring for this talented young lady.

The Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen Pageant is held in conjunction with the Miss Oklahoma Pageant each June at the ORU Mabee Center and features talented, intelligent, and beautiful contestants from across the state. This is the fifth year for the Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen Pageant. Past winners include Miss America 2007 Lauren Nelson, who was the Teen pageant’s winner in 2004.
